Our Story
Coeliac Everyday is an independent, family-run website. This is why I started it, and what you can expect from it.
Hello, I'm Djuri van der Schaar, the founder of Coeliac Everyday.
Our story
I founded Coeliac Everyday because my son was diagnosed with coeliac disease.
As a parent, I discovered how challenging everyday gluten-free living can be, particularly when it comes to shopping for food.
The supermarket challenge
One of my biggest frustrations is the lack of suitable gluten-free options in supermarkets. Products can be difficult to find, expensive, limited in variety, or simply unavailable.
I've worked in food retail for over a decade, so I understand supermarket operations, product availability and the challenges of offering specialist ranges. Experiencing these difficulties personally, as a parent, has given me an entirely different perspective.
I believe families affected by coeliac disease deserve more choice, better accessibility, affordable alternatives and reliable information. That's why I created Coeliac Everyday.
Our mission
Making gluten-free and allergy-aware living easier, more accessible, more affordable and more enjoyable for everyone.
I want Coeliac Everyday to become a trusted resource where families can find gluten-free recipes, supermarket alternatives, practical advice, product recommendations and helpful information that makes everyday life easier.
What you can expect
- Gluten-free recipes for everyday family meals, with every ingredient that needs a label check clearly marked.
- Supermarket guides and alternatives to help you find, choose and check gluten-free products.
- Practical advice for the kitchen, eating out, travel, school and family life.
- Honest product recommendations, with transparent disclosure. If we ever earn money from a link, we'll label it clearly and explain it in our affiliate disclosure.
- Health facts checked against trusted sources, such as the NHS, NICE, Coeliac UK and the Food Standards Agency, with links so you can read the original guidance yourself.
- Gluten-free first, always. Coeliac disease and gluten-free living will always be our foundation. We'll also carefully explore other food allergies and intolerances, organic products and related lifestyle choices, and we'll always say clearly whether something is gluten-free.
How our content is made
Our articles are researched and drafted with the help of AI tools. Every factual, health and allergen point is checked against the source linked beside it before we publish, and I'm responsible for everything on the site. You can read more in our editorial policy.
A note on health information
Coeliac Everyday shares general information, not medical advice. I'm a parent with experience in food retail, not a medical professional. If you have questions about coeliac disease, your diet or your health, please speak to your GP or a registered dietitian. See our editorial & medical disclaimer policy.
